The Solar Village closed its doors after 10 days of competition, with prize-giving ceremony of the winner of Solar Decathlon Europe 2010. The home team Lumenhaus Institute Virginia Polytechnic & State University has been the most efficient of the competition, followed in second place team of University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim and third place Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences. TRANSPORT CONTAINERS AS HOUSES WOULD HELP PROVIDE DISASTER IN HAITI

The idea of using shipping containers as housing in the disaster-stricken areas, is not new, but until now was only an idea. That idea is possible thanks to SEED a group of researchers from Clemson University. The team was working since Hurricane Katrina, developing a plan to deploy the shipping container and turned into houses especially in the Caribbean region in the event of a hurricane, when a few days ago received the news about the disaster in Haiti.
