SOLAR DECATHLON EUROPE 2010. MADRID JUNE 18-21

Last year, Solar Decathlon 2009 was held in Washington DC This year we are fortunate to celebrate Solar Decathlon Europe 2010 in Madrid, the competition for sustainable architecture's most prestigious between universities and schools of architecture and engineering.

The contest will be held in Madrid during the month of June 2010 will be organized by the Polytechnic University of Madrid in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing of the Spanish Government.

ECOARK. SUSTAINABLE PAVILION recycled plastic bottles, IN TAIPEI

A group of architects and two construction with two things in common: they are Taiwanese and want to be sustainable. Together they have made possible an environmental convention center in Taipei to be donated to the City to be "used for the 2010 Flora exposure . On April 22, 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. In these 40 years, many NGOs, some governments and several individual initiatives have warned us about the urgent need for a change in our consumption practices and economic policies in order to preserve what remains of our planet for future generations, while we make our transit through more respectful and responsible environmental stewardship, with higher levels of health and welfare for all.

The Japanese office design   Suppose , have used cardboard tubes (biodegradable material) for the project "Karis (shop located inside a shopping mall in Hiroshima). They have tubes placed randomly irregular surfaces creating an arc (the concept is based on the caves ) that divided the store in different environments.

TRANSPORT CONTAINERS AS HOUSES WOULD HELP PROVIDE DISASTER IN HAITI

The idea of using shipping containers as housing in the disaster-stricken areas, is not new, but until now was only an idea. This idea is made possible by SEED a group of researchers from Clemson University. The team was working from Hurricane Katrina, developing a plan to deploy the shipping container and turned into houses especially in the Caribbean region in the event of a hurricane, when a few days ago received the news about the disaster in Haiti.

Now the group is working double time to try to launch your project and help the earthquake victims. The SEED project for emergency housing involves the use of shipping containers that are strong enough to withstand hurricanes and seismic activity. Estructrura made impressive cases of beer. V + "vers well être plus "are the authors regarding this magnificent interior, during the exhibition to commemorate the Belgian Expo '58.
A shame, they have not done thinking about the environment. But it is an incredible second life for crates of beer!

However, the German artists Wolfgang Winter and Berthold Hörbelt have used recycled milk cartons and containers in its buildings since 1992. This was built in Castleford in Crate Britain in 2006. Continue Reading »
